Director of Highway Care, Matt Morphet, has received a Collaborative Champion Award from the Institute for Collaborative Working (ICW) in recognition of his leadership and advocacy in advancing collaborative culture across the highways sector.

Matt leads the ICW’s Highways Forum alongside Dr. Ghaith Al-Werikat from National Highways. A highways professional with 30 years’ experience, Matt was already involved in the ICW Highways Forum when he joined Highway Care as a Director in March 2025, and has continued to maintain that leadership role alongside his responsibilities of heading up our UK Barrier division.

The award was presented to Matt by Lord John Hannett OBE, ICW’s Chairman at a House of Lords event celebrating the Highways Forum’s achievements. Receiving it, Matt was praised for his vision, energy and commitment, which have helped to ensure that the ICW Highways Forum remains focused and purpose driven.

The ICW Highways Forum provides a platform for highways professionals to explore and facilitate collaborative working and knowledge sharing, which plays a critical role in delivering innovation and achieving operational and safety best practice. Matt has recently been involved in the Forum’s work to develop a Collaboration Diagnostic Toolkit for the Highways Sector, which is designed to help organisations build collaboration capability, competencies and cultures.

Matt commented: “Since my early career, I have always advocated for a collaborative approach to working together across the delivery chain. Collaboration plays a critical role in driving efficiency, mitigating risk and fostering effective communication across teams and partners and I’m proud to be involved in bringing highways professionals together through the ICW Forum to develop strategies and programmes that aid and promote collaboration.

“I’m delighted to have been recognised with the award, but the biggest reward of all is in seeing how the work that Ghaith and I are a part of is having a positive impact on collaborative working in our sector.”
