About our Aegis IPV

Part of our mobile traffic products (MTP) range, our Aegis IPVs play a vital role in protecting road workers and road users during maintenance and improvement projects. Our Horizont Vertical Light Arrows provide high visibility warning signs and lights to warn drivers of road works and orient them to an available lane, while our SS90™ HD lorry-mounted crash cushion ensures effective protection for road workers.

Offering practicality and durability, the vehicle can be driven at 55 mph on rear air suspension and at 35mph on rear steel suspension while the SS90™ HD crash cushion is deployed. The crash cushion, which can easily be repaired following medium or light impact, is fabricated with a sturdy, galvanised external safety frame, which protects against nuisance damage and provides a robust, long-term solution.

Supplied with a WVTA inspection included, specification for our Aegis IPV is based on a 18t dropside body as standard, with other vehicle options available.

With galvanised steel cross bearers mounted directly to the full length of the chassis to strengthen the subframe, the vehicle features an aluminium ‘V’ groove side rave secured to all bearers, and a sliding section to allow side access.

Safety is a key priority, with removable anodised aluminium sideguards and galvanised double handrails along each side, along with detachable handrails for fitting to the drop sides at the rear. A FORS compliant CCTV recordable six-camera system with side scan and left turning alarm ensures any incidents are recorded, while full LED marker and work lights, beacons, strobes, and lights in wells and lockers boost visibility at all times. The beacons are synced with light arrows to activate an auto-off when the vehicle is not in use.

Practicality is built in too, with underbody baskets, rear sign racking, adjustable pole systems and sandbag boxes for storage.

A fully repairable, heavy-duty lorry-mounted crash cushion, our Safe Stop 90™ HD absorbs rear-end impact at speeds of up to 68mph, helping to keep road workers safe while minimising the risk of harm to errant drivers.

With high-performance, long-life hydraulics twin design ram operation, and road lights recessed on the impact face, the Safe Stop 90™ HD can be supplied with hard-wired cab control and additional external rear controls. The impact face can withstand an impact of 5mph before the release cables operate.

The Safe Stop 90™ HD has been tested to NCHRP 350 tests 3-50, 3-51 and optional tests 3-52 and 3-53, and it is UK Test CD 378 compliant at 110 kph/68 mph.
